CAMP USAGE GUIDELINES AND REGULATIONS

Welcome to Murphys Christian Camp!

The Murphys Christian Camp management welcomes you to Murphys Camp for your camp or retreat. We pray that God will grant you a blessed and restful time while you are here enjoying the beauty of His creation. To make your stay safe, enjoyable and efficient, we ask you to read and observe the following guidelines:

EMERGENCIES:

In case of a fire or other emergency, contact a camp staff member immediately. If you cannot locate one, proceed immediately to the dining hall. Locate the emergency alert horn in the box on the wall just inside the front door of the dining hall. Take the horn outdoors and sound 3 short blasts. All campers are to proceed immediately to the GAZEBO for emergency or evacuation instructions.
Report all accidents or injuries to camp staff. First aid stations are located in the kitchen. Your injury will be treated as appropriate and logged in our camp medical log book, as required by county health regulations. Campers who become ill should be isolated. The room designed "Sarah" in the Lodge should be used as an infirmary for sick campers.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

No smoking, drugs or alcohol are allowed anywhere in the camp. If you must smoke, contact camp staff for a designated area. Please be careful with matches. Children found with matches or other fire-causing devices will be dismissed from camp.
Please be alert for poison oak in the wooded areas of the camp. If you need help in identifying poison oak or treatment upon contact, see a staff member.
No campfires may be lit without permission and supervision by camp staff. Please keep campfire area clean and orderly.
Please stay out of camp work yards or storage areas, as these areas may contain hazards.
You may visit the gold mine. It has been inspected and is safe. Children must have supervision.
Children and youth should not enter wooded areas of the camp alone. Take one or two buddies and inform your leaders of your plans and whereabouts.
The camp is habitat or potential habitat for a variety of wildlife: rattlesnakes, bobcats, mountain lions, fox, skunks, deer, quail, etc. Some of these pose dangers. Please be alert!

SPORTS EQUIPMENT:

Sports equipment is located in a barrel on or near the basketball court, in a cabinet on the southeast corner of the dining hall, at the miniature golf course and horseshoe pits. Other game and exercise equipment is located in the Upper Room and rest rooms. Mountain bicycles are available at the dining hall for adults and experienced, responsible youth. All riders must wear helmets. See camp staff before checking out a bicycle. Archery equipment is available upon request with adult supervision only. All sports equipment must be returned to its original location after use. Neglect of this rule will result in removal of the equipment for the duration of your camp or retreat! Please inform a staff member is any equipment is broken or damaged during use.

DINING HALL:

Meal times: meals are generally served at the following times: breakfast 8:00 a.m.; lunch 12 noon; dinner 6:00 p.m. Other times may be set up by special arrangement with the kitchen staff and camp management.
All diners are requested to scrape plates into the receptacle provided and to place dirty dishes in the trays on the bus carts in the dining hall. Please place cups and drinking glasses on the second shelf of the bus carts, including cups and glasses with excess liquids.
Due to state health regulations, no one is allowed in the kitchen area except personnel involved in food preparation.
Do not remove dishes or cups from the dining hall. Ask kitchen staff for disposables.

LODGE:

We ask that you keep your rooms and other areas of the Lodge clean and orderly. Please leave the lodge in as good a condition as you found it. Be sure to check carefully for personal belongings in rooms or rest rooms before you leave.
Please use rest-room fans while in the rest rooms.
Do not remove or move furnishings without permission.
Showers: please make sure shower curtain is inside shower and hang bath mat on curtain rod after your shower!
Inform camp staff if any supplies need replenishing.
Switches for air coolers and outdoor lights are located in the janitorial closet opposite the women's rest-room door. Consult your leader or camp staff for assistance. Children may not operate these controls!
Upper Room: Please return furniture to original settings when you finish your retreat. Place empty soda cans in the proper receptacle. Do not leave open food or used dishes in this room, due to potential ant problems. Ask staff for any needed help with equipment. Switch for air cooler is located inside the closet near the piano (single orange door). Contact staff for assistance with heating system thermostat.

PHONE CALLS:

Most cellular phone systems do not function well in the camp area, due to our isolated location. The camp provides a standard pay phone for camper use. This phone accepts coins, calling cards and credit cards. If you do not have these means available, direct-dial toll calls may be made on the camp business line for 25 cents per minute, paid to the camp staff immediately after making the call.
